Lanškroun Region

Lanškroun RegionThe main European divide of the North Sea and the Black Sea goes through the Lanškroun Region from Buková hora (958 meters above sea level) with a skiing resort through Mariánská hora (502 meters above sea level), a place of pilgrimage, and Třebovské stěny natural reserve (Palice, 613 meters above sea level) to Třebovické sedlo in the south-west cap of the Lanškroun Region which, with its of altitude of 438 metres, is the lowest point of the whole European divide the Elbe – the Danube. On Buková hora also the Moravská Sázava rises – the river of the Lanškroun Basin. In its upper reach it is a mountain stream hugged with a nature trail which provides places of rest for families with children. In the Lanškroun Region hikers can use a wide offer of accommodation and catering. Information boards with maps are prepared for them along roads, where the sights of the region are presented together with places of interest of an extremely pure nature of the Lanškroun Region. From the lookout tower on Lázek (714 meters above sea level) you can see the highest peaks of the Eagle Mountains, the massif of Králický Sněžník, the hilltops of the Jeseníky Mountains with Praděd, see as far as the fruitful Haná Region as well as the hills of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands.
In summer the natural park of seven Lanškroun ponds attracts visitors’ attention with its walking circle offering rich weapon-free-hunting and quiet places for angling. The holiday area in the neighbourhood of Dlouhý pond welcomes visitors with a maintained natural swimming pool, the opportunity to hire boats, go in for windsurfing and other water sports, with camping sites and restaurants. In winter skiers can enjoy winter sports not only in Čenkovice, a ski resort with a number of downhill courses being snowed up artificially or tens of kilometres of artificially maintained cross-country skiing tracks, but also at a downhill course near the centre of Lanškroun. All the year round the picturesque landscape offers its beauties to hikers, bikers can use more than a hundred kilometres of marked routes, and horse riders can enjoy three hippo-routes through the region. In Lanškroun Region you can visit three châteaux - Lanškroun with a museum exposition, hunting château in Tatenice or a torso of originally magnificent Liechtenstein château near Rudoltice. You can find here folk architecture of court farms of Hřebeč (Schőnhengstgau) as well as timbered cottages in mountain villages.
