Ing. Bohumil Modrý

1916 - 1963
Bohumil Modrý was a famous goalkeeper of LTC Prague and the Czechoslovak national ice hockey team. As a young boy he used to visit the swimming pool of Lanškroun with his parents.
After the WWII he lived with his wife and two daughters at 418 Nádražní Street. He was a civil engineer by original profession. In 1948 he created a regulation plan for the town. Among thorough analyses of the town his proposals of the port of Lanškroun on the Elbe-Danube waterway, an airport, or a branch line from Rudoltice to Letohrad engage. He was also the national administrator of a brick factory.
In the 1950’s, after a well-known judicial trial with ice hockey representatives, Modrý was arrested in communist labour camps. In his honour a street was named after him and his bust was unveiled in Lanškroun in 1994 in the presence of his wife and daughters and the still living members of the former hockey team. In YYYY also a new ice hockey hall was named after him.
